The Canadian cannabis landscape post-legalization is in its infancy and the need for reliable high-quality education on the most current research on cannabis is essential to all healthcare practitioners and their patients considering cannabis or cannabinoids as a treatment option.

Which membership category should I apply for?

Full Member
Physicians and Clinicians
Annual Fee: $150 CAD*
Membership in the Consortium shall be available to active, licensed Canadian or international physicians, doctors of osteopathic medicine (OD), dentists (DDS or DMD) and veterinarians (DVM) primarily employed outside of industry (i.e. more than 50% of income is from non-industry).
Full Member
Researchers, Health Care Practitioners, Educators, Government Employees
Annual Fee: $75 CAD*
Membership in the Consortium shall be available to scientists with a research interest relevant to cannabinoid therapeutics that are employed by recognized academic institutions; Educators employed by recognized academic institutions; Allied healthcare practitioners other than the above listed physicians and clinicians; Government employees; Non-practicing physicians. More than 50% of income must be from non-industry sources for all members in this category. Individuals with multiple designations (e.g. MD/PhD) must provide proof that they are not engaged in clinical practice.
Associate Member
Industry Employees and Consultants
Annual Fee: $200 CAD*
Individuals primarily employed by the cannabis industry (>50% of income is from industry) who have demonstrated a sustained interest in the mission of the Consortium. Examples include active, licensed Canadian or international physicians; doctors of osteopathic medicine (OD); dentists (DDS or DMD); veterinarians (DVM); allied healthcare practitioners; medical/science writers and educators; QA, marketing, product development, research and development industry employees/consultants.
Associate Member
Trainee
Annual Fee: $25 CAD*
Undergraduate, graduate (Master’s or PhD), post-doctoral trainees in any related field of study or research; Residents and fellows
Associate Member
Patients and Patient Advocacy Groups
Annual Fee: $25 CAD*
Patients; Members of patient advocacy groups with non-profit organization status or interested persons from non-medical backgrounds whom are NOT primarily employed by industry (> 50% of income is from industry).

Is the membership fee annual or a one time fee?
The membership fee is an annual fee. In order to continue serving as Canada’s trusted resource for evidence-based research, and delivering the same high calibre educational program and networking opportunities we have in the past, it is vital that we seek ongoing support from our community.
What is your membership refund policy?
CCIC will not provide refunds for membership fees, except in special cases such as double payment. Refund requests for special cases within two business days of payment may be sent to info@ccic.net for determination.
What is the benefit to joining the CCIC?
In addition to supporting the CCIC in continuing to bring a high calibre of educational programs and networking opportunities, you will receive a number of valuable benefits, which you can see here.
What if I don't meet any of the category criteria, but I still want to join the CCIC?
Please send an email to info@ccic.net describing your interest in joining the CCIC for further determination.
What is the difference between full and associate members?
Full members of the CCIC are individuals that are licensed, active, healthcare professionals, researchers and educators from recognized institutions who support our mission and initiatives. Associate members are individuals permitted to join the organization who do not meet the definitions of active full membership as described above and therefore, do not have voting privileges.
